About

Craft, depth, and tools that respect the user.

I'm an independent software consultant in Los Angeles, two decades in. I care about the unfashionable things: depth over novelty, tools that don't waste your attention, and software that ages well because someone sweated the parts you never see.

The name

When I formed the LLC, my son was two, and his favorite animal was the owl. Around the same time, "Superb Owl" was making the rounds online, the phrase people use to talk around a certain trademarked football game. The two collided and it just fit. The owl stuck, and so did the name.

Track record

The work has spanned architecture, design, and technical leadership. At a digital agency I led web platforms for high-profile brands, among them the world's busiest music venue, scoping engagements at the RFP stage, setting technical direction, and translating between engineers and the executives signing off on the work.

My consulting has reached deep into the enterprise. One engagement on compliance infrastructure for regulated workloads named me on several dozen patents; another put me in high-level partner meetings with IBM on a client's behalf. The common thread isn't a stack. It's being the person brought in when the direction matters and the stakes are real.

It has never been only code. I've led brand strategy, design, and a decade of large-scale event and community organization. And I build and run my own products, which keeps me close to the full lifecycle, not just the advice.

A little human

I build at the edges of a full life, here in Los Angeles. The products on this site are made in the gaps: early mornings, late nights, the occasional stolen weekend. That's not an apology; it's the honest pace of building something good on your own terms.
